Exceptional Student Education Teacher
Endorsed in ASD, ESOL, and Reading

Lead Teacher

My name is Christina Herdt and I am proud to serve as an Exceptional Student Education teacher at Homeschool Classroom. I hold both a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education and a Master of Science in Exceptional Student Education from Florida State University with endorsements in ASD, ESOL, and Reading. I have been teaching and tutoring off and on for 13 years. My goal is to create an inclusive, adaptive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. My approach to education centers on the beliefs that every child learns differently, behavior is a form of communication just as much as verbal language is and that diversity is a strength. I myself have AuDHD and have found that my experiences have only strengthened my connections to my students, my own children/family, and the community. My goal in the classroom is to identify student capabilities and build on those capabilities. I believe that what bridges academic gaps and emotional growth is the partnership between teachers and families. I am deeply committed to ongoing professional development and advocacy for both students and parents. As a parent of children with diverse needs myself, I know first-hand just how hard it is advocate for your child, acquire services, and go through all the processes for education, therapies, etc. I look forward to partnering with the Homeschool Classroom community to ensure every student feels valued, empowered and equipped for success.
